Once, there was a woman who asked God for a flower…
… and a butterfly.
… and a butterfly.
But instead God gave her a cactus…
… and a caterpillar.
The woman was sad; she didn’t understand why her request was mistaken.
Then she thought: Oh, well, maybe God has too many people to care for…
Then she thought: Oh, well, maybe God has too many people to care for…
maybe He doesn’t understand my needs…
She decided not to question.
She decided not to question.
After some time,
the woman went to check up on her request that she had left forgotten.
To her surprise, from the thorny and ugly cactus a beautiful flower had grown.
And the unsightly caterpillar had been transformed into the most beautiful butterfly.
God always does things right!
His way is ALWAYS the best way, even if to us it seems all wrong.
If you asked God for one thing & received another, TRUST.
You can be sure that He will always give you what you need at the appropriate time.

I loved your Eternity Cafe message about trust. It came in perfect timing for me today. My husband and I were working on some communication issues last night, and I was having trouble trusting God to work them out. Then this morning I read your message, and it gave me much needed reassurance.
Then, on top of that, I received the following little message from my friend and coworker this morning: “When God leads you to the edge of the cliff, trust Him fully and let go. Only one of two things will happen: Either He’ll catch you when you fall, or He’ll teach you how to fly!” (I’m sorry, we don’t know to whom it can be attributed.)
God sure is hitting me over the head with assurances that I can trust Him to answer my prayers in His way and in His time. Your blog is playing a part in encouraging me. 🙂

Today’s thorn is tomorrows flower…I just LOVE that. I will try and remember that each time I deal with the thorns of teenagers!!!
